We now will be offering our Foster Information Workshop, every month following Volunteer Orientation. Quick, turnaround fostering will dramatically increase the number of lives saved at the Greenwood County Animal Shelter, but we need compassionate and capable people to open their home to an orphaned animal.
The Humane Society of Greenwood will be hosting an information and Training Workshop for new and potential foster parents Saturday, May 5th at 11:30am.
During this workshop we will explain how to become a foster parent for dogs that are going to rescue organizations in other states. These dogs typically only need fostering for about two weeks or less, as they await transport. We also will illustrate how to be a successful Adoption Ambassador by fostering a dog or cat that is available for adoption and helping them find their forever family.
All of the animals available for these foster programs are healthy and up to date on their shots. During the workshop we will review how to keep your pet healthy, in case the foster pet has an illness but not showing symptoms. Some animals may need to be scheduled to return to the shelter for spay or neuter surgery or routine shots.
