Come out and enjoy the spring-like weather with the Humane Society of Greenwood at “Bring Your Dog to Bruster’s” Spirit Night. The event will be held at Bruster’s Ice Cream, located at 1204 Mathis Road in Greenwood, on Tuesday, May 14, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. All dogs will receive FREE doggie sundaes and 12% of all proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Greenwood.

This year’s Chili’s Annual Sizzlin’ Showdown Golf Tournament is Wednesday, May 22. We are offering hole sponsorships again this year for a $50 tax-deductible donation. Over 50 signs were sponsored for last year’s tournament and the sponsors really had fun with creating their own mini-billboard to honor, memorialize, thank or just promote. The Humane Society of Greenwood will be at Petsmart in Greenwood, SC from 10a to 4p with adoptable dogs and cats from the Greenwood County Animal Shelter. Remy, Laura, Cindy, and the infamous Coolio (pictured) will be the dogs on hand and wonderful cats are always at the store for you to visit and adopt.

On hand will be adoptable dogs — like Glen! — and we will be collecting donated pet food supplies. Come out and see us! The Humane Society of Greenwood wants all to realize that animal abuse and neglect occurs in their own community. It’s important to recognize the signs of neglect, whether it’s intentional or not, and to report it for the sake of the animal. Residents of Greenwood City or County (South Carolina) should call 911 or dispatch at (864) 942-8679 to report an animal in need.
