The HSOG has been selected by the ASPCA as one of the beneficiaries of the 9Lives Morris’ Rescue Watch grant to receive an entire pallet of cat food! We will be picking it up in December from a distribution center in Atlanta. We may be soliciting volunteer help to pick up the food and bring it back to Greenwood.

We will be selling 2014 HOPE Calendars at Monday night’s Holiday Showcase at Piedmont Technical College’s James Medford Family Event Center located at 620 N. Emerald Road, Building N in Greenwood, SC. The event is held by the Business Professional Women’s Club to benefit the Greenwood Cancer Fund. November’s Volunteer Orientation is on Saturday, 11/2, from 9:00a to 9:50a, with a “Dog Walking 101″ class following from 10a to 11a for those who want to work specifically with dogs. The classes will take place at the Greenwood Animal Shelter Adoption Center located at 235 Wilbanks Circle. To speed up the process, download and complete the Volunteer Application before the orientation.

More than eighty Grand Harbor residents and other other club members gathered to “rock the rescues” at the third annual Animal House Toga Party benefiting the Humane Society of Greenwood. More than $9,000 was raised in support of the agency’s efforts on behalf of the area’s homeless animals.
