Just like the firearms manufacturer he’s named for, our “Ruger” is also rugged and reliable. His irresistible Retriever good looks, golden red coat, and matching amber eyes will captivate you. He loves to fetch, is highly trainable — he has learned to lie down and roll over– and has the reputation of being the cleanest dog in the Adoption Center!

Wellness Work For Kids

A group of young girls from Wellness Works for Kids stopped by yesterday with a delivery of donated dog food! The group of young girls, called “Girls and the Run,” chose the Humane Society as their community project. They were able to spend lots of quality time with HSOG Doggie Ambassador “Coolio,” who loved every minute of it.

Bruster’s Night For The Dogs!

Come out and enjoy the spring-like weather with the Humane Society of Greenwood at “Bring Your Dog to Bruster’s” Spirit Night. The event will be held at Bruster’s Ice Cream, located at 1204 Mathis Road in Greenwood, on Tuesday, May 14, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. All dogs will receive FREE doggie sundaes and 12% of all proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Greenwood.

Pets of the Week – April 29, 2013 (Patches)

“Patches” is an understatement of a name for her; her glorious tortoise shell-tabby (Torbie) markings are etched in orange, black and white so vivid even the latter seems to glow; but her keenly defined markings is where her edges end, inside she’s a dreamy watercolor-cat, a two year old girl suffused with tranquil sweetness you’ll feel the moment you hold her.

We posted on our Facebook page that we wanted a bell for the Adoption Center that could be rung each time a pet was adopted. Beth Dettmann saw the post and when asked by her children, Andy and Todd Waldrep, and his wife, Sara, what she wanted for Christmas she told them, “A bell for the Humane Society!” The children obliged and The Rudy Bell,
